I am honored to be a member of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health’s Initiative to End Alzheimer’s Board of Visitors. Many of us on the board, including myself, have personally lived with the devastating effects of a loved one’s journey through this illness.
Derek and his wife Nancy became involved in Alzheimer’s disease related research and charitable giving after Nancy’s father, mother and stepmother were diagnosed with either Alzheimer’s disease or dementia over the span of several months. Derek is also participating in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Clinical Core research study.
“Right in our own backyard.” That’s how I describe the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s – acknowledged globally as a premier leader in Alzheimer’s research and clinical care.
