Sanjay Asthana, MD, founding director of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), and Robert Golden, MD, Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, recently published accomplishments and notable discoveries of the Wisconsin ADRC in the Wisconsin Medical Journal.
Highlights include:
- Recent breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s disease biomarker findings from the Wisconsin ADRC and Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention (WRAP)
- The formation of two of the largest cohorts of African American and Native American participants in the United States to investigate Alzheimer’s disease disparities
- The potential relationship between social determinants of health and the biological aspects of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
- The work done by the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study—Initial Lifetime Impact on Alzheimer’s Disease (WLS-ILIAD), led by Asthana, was renewed in 2023 with a $50 million NIH grant.
