Dave Adam is a UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s (IEA) Board of Visitors member and recently biked 4,200 miles across Canada to raise money for the IEA. Milwaukee television station Fox6 featured coverage of Adam’s trek and interviewed Cynthia Carlsson, MD, MS, director of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute (WAI) about how funds raised will support UW Alzheimer’s disease research, education and community health programs.

Adam’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2004. The 38-day bike ride Adam completed honors his father and hopes to bring awareness to the need for research and support for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

“We really respect those people like Dave Adam who’ve done this great work, and people do it in their own creative ways,” Carlsson said.
