A summer of generosity raises more than $268,000 for Alzheimer’s research and programs
This summer, communities across Wisconsin and beyond came together in an extraordinary show of support for the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s. Through running, pickleball, music, golf, social gatherings and mini golf, hundreds of participants, volunteers, sponsors and donors helped raise more than $268,000 to advance Alzheimer’s disease research, outreach and programs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
The summer began with the Remember Me Red Run on May 9 at Bailey’s Run Vineyard and Winery. An afternoon of music, fellowship, and fun brought the community together around a shared commitment to advancing Alzheimer’s research at UW. The event raised an impressive $44,754.
On June 13, the Serve, Smash and Remember Pickleball Tournament continued the momentum, raising more than $15,500 in support of Alzheimer’s research. The following day, Minds Over Mountains: Fellowship, Music and Fundraising brought supporters together for another meaningful community event and raised more than $38,000.
The Hackers & Slackers Ending Alzheimer’s Invitational Golf Outing on July 13 marked one of the summer’s largest fundraising successes. Through the generosity of participants, sponsors and supporters, the event raised more than $101,000 to help accelerate the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
Support continued through gatherings outside Wisconsin. The Buckingham Club of Chicago event on July 30 raised more than $25,000, while The Langdon Club of Chicago Social on August 14 generated more than $35,000. On August 20, the Buckingham Club of Twin Cities added more than $3,000 to the summer’s fundraising total.
The summer concluded with The Bottle Annual Mini Golf Outing on August 29, which raised more than $6,000 to support the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute Regional Milwaukee’s Amazing Grace Chorus. This program brings together individuals living with memory loss and their care partners through the joy and connection of music.
Together, these eight events raised more than $268,000, demonstrating what is possible when individuals, families, businesses and communities unite around a common purpose.
We are deeply grateful to every event organizer, participant, volunteer, sponsor and donor who made this remarkable summer possible. Your generosity strengthens the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s and helps our researchers and programs continue pursuing discoveries, supporting families and working toward a future without Alzheimer’s disease.
